The Emerging Affluent Customer
What Asia's Life Insurers Need to Rethink About Advice and Proposition
The executive view
Three takeaways
Affluence is increasing, while customer needs are becoming more complex.
Product breadth is no longer the same as proposition strength.
Advisor capability is becoming part of the affluent proposition.
Abstract
Why this matters
Asia's affluent opportunity is often framed as a wealth-growth story. That understates the strategic challenge. As household wealth increases, customers do not simply require larger policies or more sophisticated products. Their financial lives become more interconnected. Protection, retirement income, healthcare, wealth accumulation, business ownership and succession, and intergenerational transfer increasingly need to be considered together.

Sources & Methodology
Research type: Secondary research. This publication synthesizes publicly available research, industry data, company disclosures, and other credible sources relevant to the subject. It does not present original survey findings or proprietary market estimates unless explicitly identified.
Sources are reviewed for publication date, geographic scope, definitions, study population, and relevance to the claims presented. Quantitative findings retain their original geography and reporting period; differently defined metrics are used directionally rather than as directly comparable measures. Forecasts, survey intent, company examples, and associations are identified accordingly, and causality is not inferred unless established by the underlying source. Full source references are provided in the downloadable research brief.
